The Watermans Theatre is looking for more volunteers, particularly men, to take part in its performance of Handbag in July. Over 20 local people have come forward but they still need more.

In the first of Watermans Weekenders the group is bringing dance in all its many incarnations to the theatre.

A spokesman said; "We have been delighted by the response to our request for people to play a part in performances of Handbag here at Watermans on Sunday 14 July (Part of the Big Dance Weekender). Over 20 people have already put themselves forward but we'd still like a few more, particularly men."

Interested people should contact the Box Office on 020 8232 1010 and leave their name.

They must be over 16 years and available to rehearse on Sunday 7th July, one evening during the following week and on the morning of Sunday 14 July before performing in late afternoon and evening.

More details about the Weekender are on Watermans website, www.watermans.org.uk

The Weekender will include performances of street dance, screenings of films about dance including Moulin Rouge and the Rocky Horror Picture Show, and a Dance photography workshop led by Chris Nash. A family afternoon for children and a number of professional performances are also part of the event. You can buy Day Tickets that will entitle you to entry to everything going on each day or just choose the things you want to see.
