The Grove Park Music Festival is proud to be supporting the important and vital work undertaken by The Stroke Association.

About The Stroke Association
The Stroke Association is a national charity which provides practical support to people who have had strokes, their families and carers. We campaign, educate and inform to increase knowledge of stroke at all levels of society. We run telephone helplines, provide publications and welfare grants, and offer information and education services around the country. We also fund and promote research which aims to increase knowledge of stroke prevention and treatment.

What does The Stroke Association do?
Every 5 minutes someone has a stroke. It is not just the elderly who have strokes; every year 10,000 people under retirement age will have one for the first time. Stroke is the largest cause of severe disability with some 350,000 people affected at any one time.

The Stroke Association is committed to rebuilding shattered lives by helping people recover as fully as possible. Our Community Service, Family Support, gives emotional support to family members, at the time of the stroke, and our Dysphasia Support acts as a lifeline to some 20,000 people who are unable to speak, read or write as a result of a stroke.

The Stroke Association is a major funder of research into all aspects of stroke. We are funding researchers who are investigating exactly what happens in the brain when a stroke occurs. This knowledge should advance the search for treatments to protect the brain from damage in the early hours following a stroke.
