Dukes Meadows Trust and Abundance London planted nearly 3,000 bulbs in the children’s play area at Dukes Meadows last weekend (Sunday 24th November).

Orgainisers described the event as very successful as people responded to an earlier appeal to come and help out.

Volunteers Help Plant Bulbs For Spring

The bulbs will bring vibrant colours in spring after the grey winter. Dark blue irises, pale blue small stars, big firework alliums, purple drumsticks – these will make the area a beautiful haze of fragrant blue and mauve next May.

The Trust has also created a new wildflower meadow on the slope at the end of the play area. This will increase biodiversity as well as adding a lovely new feature for summer.

Abundance London helped choose the bulbs and were involved on the day.
