The volunteers behind the Chiswick Timeline are seeking help to powerwash the walls of the railway arches where the Chiswick Timelime will be placed.

Local group, Abundance London, is creating a huge mural – 64m long in total, 2.5m high - to transform the dingy walls outside Turnham Green tube where the road passes below the District and Piccadilly lines.

They hope to have the mural in place by January 2018. The funding of £90,000 has already been secured.

Good progress is being made with the mural. The metal sheets and framework to hold it in place are currently in production at the factory. The colour testing of the vitreous enamel artwork is not going quite as smoothly but they hope to have finalised all the colours very soon.

You can see more information – and even a video of metal sheets being sprayed, and colours being chosen! – on the website

However - they need your help. Karen and Sarah say: "Transport for London has given us permission to clean the bits of brickwork that will remain on view once the mural is installed. This will be the five lowest courses of bricks, more or less floor to knee level, and a few bricks-worth around the edges.

"We need a team of volunteers who will offer to power hose/scrub/sweep away the century’s worth of dog wee, pigeon poo and general grime off the walls. It looks like being a very grubby and wet – but hopefully satisfying - job.

"We’re not sure yet when this will actually happen but I’d like to have a list of workers all ready for the word go."
