There will be a chance for Chiswick residents to get an early look at the mural that Abundance London is planning to place under the rail bridge on Turnham Green Terrace.

They will be showing the designs proposed for the ‘Chiswick Timeline: A History in Arts and Maps’ at Chiswick Library on 18 November from 10am to 1pm.

You will be able to see in detail what they are planning to install under the bridge in January in the form of maps, images, sample plates and life-size test printing sheets.

It is the culmination of an ambitious project to transform the area which has been an eyesore for many years. Abundance London first proposed this project several years ago, and now has permission from TfL to create a mural here. Over 27 metres long, 2.5m high, this will be a landmark piece of public art.

There will be a timeline of historic maps showing the development of Chiswick through the centuries, with works of art depicting local landmarks by some of the artists who live and work in our area.

Chiswick councillors, through the Chiswick Area Forum, helped Abundance get funding from Hounslow Council for the project. Southfield ward councillors have given their backing with a grant. Contributions have also been made from Transport for London.

There will be also some information about plans for the launch party including participatory art installations. You can also get updates from the Chiswick Timeline web site and the Abundance London Twitter page.
