The Addison Chamber Choir is an auditioned group of around 24-30 singers who meet on the Chiswick / Hammersmith border for weekly and occasional weekend rehearsals during the 10-week term. The Chamber Choir sing a large repertoire but have become particularly known for the performance of music by a wide range of contemporary composers, many of whom have written pieces especially for the choir. There are also occasionally some small, solo opportunities for all voice parts.

Addison Singers Music Director, David Wordsworth, has an exciting year of choral opportunities arranged for the Addison Chamber Choir and is looking for talented and committed singers to join the current group. This coming season the choir will perform at St Martin-in-the Fields, at King’s Place (as part of the ‘Minimalism Unwrapped Festival’ – the music of Gavin Bryars with the composer and his ensemble) and give the London premiere of ‘Eventide’ by Patrick Hawes, at a concert to remember Edith Cavell. The choir has also been invited to perform at the St Magnus Festival, Orkney in the summer of 2016. These performances are in addition to the termly Addison Singers concerts in conjunction with the Oratorio Choir, starting with Handel’s Messiah in December

David Wordsworth is also Artistic Director of ‘Singing Shakespeare’, a major project supported by the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust running for three years, focusing on choirs the world over singing new and existing settings of Shakespeare texts. The Addison Chamber Choir sang a programme of Shakespeare texts at the Garrick Temple to Shakespeare in Hampton recently along with a new arrangement of Stephen Sondheim’s song ‘Fear no More’ that David has undertaken with the permission of the composer. There are likely to be more opportunities for involvement with this project during the next year, not least performances in Stratford-upon-Avon and at the Globe Theatre to commemorate the 400 th anniversary of the Bard’s death.

Bursary - A bursary to attract and retain young singers who demonstrate exceptional talent and wish to join the Chamber Choir may be available on application. The bursary covers all fees and music for one year and is conditional on also joining the (unauditioned) Oratorio Choir and committing to singing at all Chamber and Oratorio Choir performances during the year.
