A Heathrow Airport Expansion consultation event will take place on Friday 23 August at Chiswick Town Hall, Heathfield Terrace, Turnham Green, W4 4JN from 2pm - 8pm.

Heathrow's latest consultation covers proposals for the future layout of the airport, including the new runway and other infrastructure; operating the airport, including night flights; preliminary assessment of the likely impact of expansion on the environment and local communities and plans for managing environmental impacts such as compensation and noise insulation.

Heathrow's consultation response deadline is 13 September .

CHATR (Chiswick against the Third Runway) is organising a stall outside the event. The campaign group is seeking support from local people to demonstrate the strength of opposition to the Third Runway and the new IPA flights proposed for three years time.

The group says a Third Runway will mean new flight paths over central and north Chiswick for the first time as well as loss of respite for those already affected by the flightpath over southern Chiswick

In addition, Heathrow is currently seeking approval from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to introduce 25,000 extra flights within three years in 2022 ( before the Third Runway is built).

IPA, or independent parallel approaches, use satellite technology to guide the planes very precisely over the exact same route each time.

Campaigners against expansion say it will enable the airport to fly more planes which would affect the quality of life for local residents.
