Local dance organisation Ballet4Life , which offers dance and movement classes to people with Parkinson's and mobility restrictions, and its affiliated dance charity, Move Into Wellbeing, are offering classes online during the current health crisis.

Ballet4Life was established in Chiswick in 2004, and dance charity, Move into Wellbeing® was founded in 2015.

Ballet4Life runs two to four classes per day, from Monday to Sunday, catering for different levels, not only in ballet, but also in other dance techniques and forms of dance exercise. This also includes classes for “Silver Swans” – aspiring dancers aged 50 and over, a programme which was originally devised by Ballet4Life’s founder. All classes are led by globally-recognised professionals who have been working with Ballet4Life for many years, and between them over 115 years of experience. In addition, Ballet4Life was short listed for One Dance UK, People’s Choice Award in 2019.

Move into Wellbeing®, an award-nominated charity, is hosting two, weekly online classes for people with Parkinson’s Disease, and other mobility restrictions. They also have a growing dance movement exercise archive, on Google Classroom, to access and to utilise.

Founder, director and long-term Chiswick resident, Donna Schoenherr, says:

“Class attendees have found this project to be hugely motivational and inspiring! The idea of dancing together through such challenging times is very liberating and empowering for all. We have even had former clients who relocated to other countries, find us online and join us again for classes!

Ballet4Life and its Director, long term Chiswick resident Donna Schoenherr, were nominated for the “Inspirational Work in Education” and for the “Inspirational Community Dance Practioner” Awards recently.

In 2014, local dance teacher Donna Schoenherr conceived of the idea of a dance organisation that would provide weekly top quality dance and movement classes for those living with Parkinson's, as well as with other mobility restrictions.

Donna, a former professional dancer, and founder of dance organisation Ballet4life.com®, had supported her father through his struggles with Parkinson’s for three decades.

Classes are devised and run by Ballet4Life.com, using specially trained and experienced teachers. They consist of a series of fun exercises to music with an emphasis on different muscle groups, co-ordination, balance, flexibility, strength and use of voice. All exercises can be performed seated and no previous experience of dance is necessary.
