A chiswickw4.com reader has been inspired by the example of the bookswap at Stamford Brook tube station and now wants to set one up at Turnham Green tube station.

Chiswick commuters using the Stamford Brook have have their daily trip to work brightened up by a 'book swap', where novels ranging from thrillers by Dick Francis, to cookery books and serious classics can turn up at any given time.

The idea is simple- people drop in their used books and leave them for others to pick up while they are passing by. The number of books varies from day to day, and you never know what you might find. People have left notes expressing their appreciation.

Following our story, a reader has contacted us to say that she would love to set up a similar bookswap at Turnham Green but would like some help. The idea appears simple, just bring along a table or bookcase, put up a poster, like the one below, and start off with a few books.

If you feel you would like to participate in this local project, please email editor@chiswickw4.com and we will put you in touch.
