Speciality cheese shop La Cave a Fromage has closed after being opened less than a year on Chiswick High Road.

A notice went up on the front door of the shop, which had opened last December on the site of the former Noa Noa boutique on the High Road.

The notice says: "This shop is now closed. We would like to thank you all for your custom. You can still find us in South Kensington and Notting Hill."

La Cave a Fromage sold farmhouse and artisan cheese from the UK and Europe, as well as cheese that they matured themselves.

We are trying to contact the owners for comment.

La Cave closed only a few days after Italian restaurant and deli, Valentina, announced it was shutting its branch in Chiswick becoming the second food business to close this week.

There are still branches in Notting Hill, South Kensington, and Hove, near Brighton.

According to La Cave's website, Amnon Paldi and Eric Charriaux opened the first shop in 2007 wanting to share their passion for cheese. Their wholesale sister company Premier Cheese supplies top restaurants including La Manoir aux Quat'Saison, The Waterside Inn, Cliveden and South Lodge Hotel, West Sussex.
