Retiring to the seaside after a eight year's service
October 1, 2023 This October’s appeal from Chiswick Guide Dogs has been dedicated to Violet. She has worked with her Guide Dog Heather for eight years but now, aged 10, Violet is moving to the seaside to live with Heather’s friends. Heather says, “ Violet remains enthusiastic and fit as a fantastic Guide Dog but at ten years old it is time she retired with all my love, thanks and best wishes. I will now be joining the waiting list for a new Guide Dog.” Chiswick Guide Dogs have launched their October Appeal with Heather, Violet and the team at the Eye Studio on the Chiswick High Road who have looked after the Guide Dogs collecting dog for many years. In October the collecting Dog will feature a QR code for donations that also links to the Just Giving page. Almost two million people in the UK are living with sight loss that has a very significant impact on their daily lives. Of those, 180,000 rarely leave their homes alone and lead lonely, isolated lives. Guide Dogs works for a world where people with sight loss are never left out of life, for a world where being blind or partially sighted is not what defines you. A
