New designs for the 24-storey tower block being proposed for the vacant site by Chiswick Roundabout have been submitted by Hounslow Council.

The changes to the original design have been made by Simpson Haugh, the architectural firm working on behalf of Starbones Ltd, the owner of the site.

The alterations are not deemed significant enough to warrant a new planning application and additional documents have been submitted as part of the existing application (P/2021/3510).

The new proposal has reduced the number of affordable units in the development by three converting some of the one and two bedroom units into four bedroom flats. This means that the total number of flats in the development falls from 255 to 252. According to the developer, the proportion of affordable housing measured by habitable room remains the same.

The lower floors of the residential section of the building have been designated for social units from the fourth floor to the ninth with floors ten to twelve a mix of social intermediate and private. All the flats from the thirteenth to the penthouse on the 24th floor will be private.

Changes have also been made to the glazing on the rooftop canopy, the gable ends of the garden terraces and the design of the northern prow of the building which faces Gunnersbury Terrace.

Sections of the rooftop canopy needed to be left unglazed to allow ventilation of the machinery stored below so the glazing has been altered in this area.

More details have also been released about the façade of the building which will be done in a green terracotta getting progressively lighter on higher floors.

The recesses on the garden terraces have also been amended to allow larger trees to be planted on the lower levels.
