Cllifton News, which has been trading on Chiswick High Road for thirty-five years, is to close.

It becomes the latest in a series of well known local shops to shut recently.

As well as daily newspapers and magazines, it was stockist of a variety of international publications and regional papers from overseas, including nearly all the Irish regional weekly newspapers for the Irish community in Chiswick.

The shop also sold general items such as stationery, sweets, drinks, and there was a phone repair business at the front of the shop.

The shop will stop selling papers next week and will close the following week.

The phone repair business which operates at the front of the shop is expected to move further along the street to set up in the tobacconists.

It is understood the owners found it increasingly challenging to operate an independent business in Chiswick.
