BBC televised local children help locals with fruit gluts

Abundance London have been running picks with local schools. Every week groups of children go out from schools including Grove Park, Belmont, St Peters, William Hogarth and John Betts to help local residents pick their fruit gluts - mainly apples and pears from their overflowing trees.

The BBC came to film them picking with Grove Park School's year 4's in a stunning garden in Wilmington Avenue in Chiswick. The nine trees in this garden yielded an overwhelming crop of apples, including Bramleys, Keswick Codlins, Rosses, Worcesters and Coxes, and the children returned to school with kilos and kilos of apples for the school to share.

Other tree owners are supplying fruit for the Abundance Fruit Fair which will be held this year at St Michaels & All Angels on 5th October, between 11-3pm, where the Big Fruit Press will be turning them into pure apple juice, and there will be all sorts of preserves and activities available.
