Police have arrested a man in connection with the accident in Chiswick in which a 15-year old teenager was seriously injured.

A 47-year old man was arrested on Wednesday (10 October) in East Sheen, on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene of a collision. He was taken to a police station in West London, and has been released on bail. He is due to return to the police station on November 26.

The police said the arrest had been made as a direct result of media appeals and they thanked the press for their assistance.

Traffic officers had issued an urgent appeal for information and witnesses to what they described as a "fail-to-stop collision" in Chiswick that has left Christopher Pritchard seriously injured. He was waiting at a bus stop for his bus home from Chiswick School when the accident happened.

The vehicle is believed to have been a Daf LF lorry of 7.5 tonnes or larger. The lorry did not stop at the scene, continuing on towards the Hogarth Roundabout and the A4.

Officers from the Hampton Traffic Garage are investigating, led by Detective Sergeant John Hartfree.

DS Hartfree said: "I need to hear from all those who witnessed the incident, and I am also appealing for information from anyone who can recognise the lorry involved or the company logo seen on the side of the lorry in the CCTV still.

"Any witnesses or anyone with any information should call police on 020 8941 9011. To remain anonymous call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
