A woman pedestrian was thrown high into the air following a collision with a van near Chiswick Business Park yesterday (October 29).

The incident took place near Gunnersbury station as the 37-year old woman was crossing the road shortly before 7 pm. She was hit by a blue van and thrown into the air - some reports suggested she was knocked 20 feet or more along the road as a result of the impact.

London Ambulance was called to the scene and paramedics treated the woman and took her to St Mary's Hospital in Paddington. It is understood that she was treated for head injuries.

The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene. There were no arrests made.

There was major traffic congestion in the area along the Chiswick High Road as there was a second incident with a huge Tesco lorry becoming stuck at the Chiswick roundabout.

Chiswick High Road was closed eastbound by the roundabout and traffic tailed back to Hanger Lane up the A406. The High Road reopened later in the evening but traffic persisted for a few hours.
