A motorcyclist needed hospital treatment after being hit by a car in Chiswick this Wednesday (29 June).

The collision took place on the A316 near the junction with Corney Road on the approach to Hogarth Roundabout at around 8.20am.

The police say that the male rider was not seriously injured and that enquiries into the circumstances of the incident are ongoing.

Significant tailbacks occurred in both directions while the road was closed.

Eye-witness and local resident David Baker said, "The tail-back is worse heading towards the Hogarth Roundabout due to the Council's road closures which means that traffic is unable to turn off the A316 on Hartington Road, Staveley Road or Burlington Lane.

"The level of traffic on Burlington Lane has increased significantly since the closure of Hammersmith Bridge and has been further exacerbated by Hounslow Council's Low Traffic Neighbourhood measures which have forced more and more traffic down Burlington Lane. A major accident was inevitable."
