A local teenager has been selected by British Gymnastics Board to represent GB in the World Acrobatic Competition this year in China.

Fourteen year old Max Crawford, the eldest son of Sean Crawford (AKA W4 Handyman) and Melanie Crawford, will be with the British Acrobatics squad in Putian, China.

After months of intensive training followed by trials at Loughborough University and Lilleshall National Sports Centre, Max along with his Junior Men’s team from Heathrow Gym have completed the British Acrobatics competitions in top position.

As a result they have been selected by the British Gymnastics Board to represent Great Britain in the Junior Men’s Four Event at this year’s World Age Group Competition in China. The competitions take place from 20 to 29 March 2016 and they are up against USA, Russia 1 and 2, Australia and host China, but having been coached by Adam McAssey (previous World Men’s Four winner and a member of Spellbound, Britain’s Got Talent Winner) they hope to give a good performance.

Max studies Mandarin at school which is going to be handy meanwhile his accompanying father will have to brush up on his mime skills and learn some of today’s useful phases “Ni you wifi “…do you have wifi. Not forgetting “Mìma shì shénme “…what is the code? Both are looking forward to the experience having never been to China before.
