Lord Lieutenant presents Clive Clahar with award for 'Meritorious Service'

A member of London's Army Cadet Force (ACF), Sergeant Major Instructor (SMI) Clive Clahar, 55, from Chiswick, has been honoured by the Reserve Forces and Cadets Association for Greater London (RFCA GL) by being awarded the Lord Lieutenant’s Certificate for Meritorious Service.

SMI Clahar, a retail manager, who has been a member of the ACF for 37 years received the award at the Association’s AGM and Awards Ceremony held in Fulham, in recognition of his dedication and commitment to 202 Acton Cadet Detachment, part of Middlesex and North West London Sector ACF.

Colonel Ian Denison, Commandant of Middlesex and North West London Sector ACF said “SMI Clahar is an outstanding example of all that is good in Adult Instructors in the ACF. His stirling service and commitment to the Sector and the ACF is an example to all. I would like to thank him for all his hard work and loyalty.”

Addressing the soldiers and invited guests, Sir Michael Craig-Cooper CBE TD DL, Vice President of the Reserve Forces Cadets Association Greater London, and Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London, who presented the evening’s awards went on to say, “Tonight is an evening of celebration to mark with great enthusiasm London’s very special sons and daughters. It is my opportunity to present awards and medals to the Volunteers and Reservists, to mark what they have done and their service. It is also my chance to thank everyone on behalf of Her Majesty The Queen for their service. The Volunteer Reservists are doing a marvellous job and are a great asset to our country.
