This Monday Ann Keen MP was invited by Belmont Primary School to visit them as part of MPs Back to School Day.

MPs Back to School Day is a worldwide event where tens of thousands of politicians have been talking to young people about the importance of education. This activity formed part of the annual Global Campaign for Education Week of Action.

The children at Belmont School gave a series of presentations for Ann Keen MP. Ann then talked to the children about education in developing countries and the Millennium Development Goal to get all children, worldwide, into primary school education by 2005. Afterwards the children quizzed Ann on a variety of interesting topics.

Ann Keen MP said:

“ The enthusiasm of the children was tremendous and the work they put into the presentations was very impressive. The MP ‘s Back to School Day went along way in   creating awareness and interest in this important issue and was a great success.”

The Global Campaign for Education is a coalition of charities, teachers' unions and citizens' groups worldwide. The Global Campaign for Education aims to increase awareness of the plight of more than 100 million children unable to go to school.
