Cedars Youth Project Benefits From Gala Dinner

Jeremy Vine guest speaker at post-election fundraiser

£3000 has been raised at a Gala Dinner for the Cedars Youth Project.

Prizes donated for the raffle and auction held at a local restaurant on Sunday May 9th included three pictures, two Harley Davidson Biker Jackets, a champagne tasting at Leith’s for two.

Jeremy Vine was guest speaker and regaled his audience with tales of life in political broadcasting as well as raising issues on ethical reporting.

Jan Tellick, a Cedars Board Member, spoke about the work of the Youth Project and finished with a moving litany of anonymous quotes from children explaining what Cedars meant to them.

The auction was handled by Adrian Biddell, an auctioneer at Sotheby’s, ably assisted by Simon Rodway, the MC.

Judith Baker who attended the dinner says:

'' What with the generosity of the diners, the excellent food and wine, and Jeremy’s stimulating talk, it was certainly an evening to remember.

'' What is even better, apart from the enormous sum raised, is that so much goodwill has been generated amongst the local community and the profile of Cedars will undoubtedly have been boosted significantly into the bargain.''
