Although they can do no wrong in the eyes of their adoring British fans, Ant and Dec's foray into the world of US entertainment hasn’t quite gone to plan.

Firstly it was their Geordie accents which were blamed for America not taking to the TV twosome however, now their gameshow Wanna Bet?, made for primetime US television, has been binned due to poor ratings.

Wanna Bet? was first aired in July and received audiences of 3.1 million but American critics were indifferent to the show, clearly not appreciating the pair's inimitable brand of humour.

"Ant and Dec are stunned," a source told The Sun newspaper. "Usually everything they touch turns to gold so it's a big shock for them. However, they’ve had other offers in and as they see it, it’s all about finding the right vehicle."

Their US agent added, "They have had meetings about moving on to other series. We anticipate they will be back on the air in 2009."
