According to the newspapers, local lads Ant and Dec have been named as the highest paid presenters on British TV.

The Sun reports that the presenters are paid £125,000 per hour each to host Britain's Got Talent but says ITV bosses might not be able to match their current salary when their contract expires later this year.

However, the pair who currently have a three year exclusive deal with ITV worth a reported £20m, needn’t worry too much as other broadcasters have already expressed interest in Ant and Dec’s “brilliant but too expensive for ITV” new Saturday night show.

The Geordie duo who would appear to have the Midas touch were favourites to win the Best Entertainment Performance prize at last weekend’s Bafta TV Awards but missed out as comedian Harry Hill scooped the prize for the second year running for his show Harry Hill's TV Burp.

Now with the Baftas behind them, Ant and Dec can concentrate their thoughts on their beloved Newcastle United who they believe can avoid relegation this season but admit they are worried by the club's current position in the Premier League.

One thing’s for certain, at least their football team won’t be bringing home any silverware this season either.
