Excited, nervous and “as ready as I will ever be” is how Sophie Ellis Bextor describes her foray into the new series of Strictly Come Dancing. The start of the eleventh series will be broadcast on BBC One this weekend (7 September).

The mother-of-three will be competing against a line-up which includes BBC presenters Susanna Reid and Vanessa Feltz, designer Julian Mc Donald, golfer Tony Jacklin, actress Fiona Fullerton and rugby star Ben Cohen.

The 15-strong line-up also includes Hairy Biker Dave Myers, former Casualty actor Patrick Robinson, Waterloo Road star Mark Benton and former Coronation Street actress Natalie Gumede.

The first episode will pair up the celebrities with their professional dancing partners, with the live shows beginning after a few weeks' rehearsal.

Sophie, who is married to Richard Jones, bass player with The Feeling has three young sons and topped the charts in recent years with songs including Take Me Home, Murder On The Dancefloor and Music Gets The Best Of Me.

The couple live in Chiswick and Sophie combines a busy life touring with her band with DJ-ing and television appearances. The daughter of well known actress Janet Ellis (Blue Peter ) she is a former face of Rimmel cosmetics.
