There was no glitter ball for Sophie Ellis-Bextor as Abbey Clancy danced her way to this year's Strictly Come Dancing title.

Sophie and dance partner Brendan Cole did the Viennese Waltz to My Favourite Things from the Sound of Music. Their showdance was to I Wanna Dance with Somebody by Whitney Houston.

She was first to be eliminated on the night in the all-female final with the judges loving her Viennese waltz but less enthusiastic about the cha-cha performed for her showdance.

She seemed to have successfully overcome her earlier knee injury. Coming into the final she was the only contestant who had not received full marks on her dancing and the bookies had made Susanna Reid the firm favourite.

More than six million votes were cast in the final. The BBC have said they are not going to disclose the breakdown of the votes.
