Will Poulter has fought off stiff competition to win the Rising Star Award at this year's BAFTAs.

The 21 year old Chiswick actor won the public vote against Dane DeHaan, Lupita Nyong'o, George MacKay and Lea Seydoux.

His parents came with him to the ceremony at the Savoy (16th February) with his Mum, Caroline, sat next to him when the announcement was made.

He made a short and graceful acceptance speech although he narrowly staved off embarrassment by remembering the name of one his fellow nominees after initially forgetting it.

Will Poulter has attended the School of Comedy at the Tabard Theatre since 2005 since being spotted by Laura Lawson who was his drama teacher at Harrodian School. Last year, he appeared with Jennifer Aniston in 'We Are The Millers'.

His break in films came after he was brought to an audition for independent Brit movie 'Son of Rambow' and he went on to appear as Eustace Scrubb in the Chronicles of Narnia series.
