The popular television chef Rick Stein has bought a house in Chiswick with his wife Sarah Stein.

The couple have been spotted in local restaurants recently.

Rick Stein was a financial partner and mentor to Sam Harrison at Sam's Brasserie and Bar, which is due to be sold after ten years in Chiswick to become part of the Foxlow stable of restaurants.

A friend said: "Rick and Sarah fell in love with Chiswick and are really happy to have found a house here."

It is understood the couple will divide their time between Chiswick, Cornwall and Australia where they run successful businesses. Awarded an OBE for services to tourism, Rick Stein divides his time between his Padstow business and Bannisters, a restaurant opened in New South Wales in 2009.

The chef's latest book' From Venice to Istanbul' has just been published. Accompanying the BBC Two series, it includes over 100 recipes discovered during his travels in the region, concentrating on the flavours of the eastern Mediterranean.

The couple have been married since 2011 and it is a second marriage for both. Rick Stein's ex-wife Jill lives in Cornwall and is involved in running the seafood restaurant, deli, hotel and shops there. They have three grown-ups sons.

A friend said the Steins intended to spend a good deal of time in Chiswick and were enjoying eating out in local restaurants.
