Chiswick-based actor David Tennant has been given the go ahead by Hounslow Council to construct a swimming pool and gym in his garden.

He and his wife had applied last October to do the work and his architects were informed this week of the decision to approve the plans to which no objection was raised by any of his neighbours.

The proposed pool will be situated in the rear garden below ground level surrounded by five small planters to include vegetation. It will measure 15.7m in length, 4.1m in width, and have a maximum depth of 1.64m.

He has also been given permission to erect a detached single storey outbuilding to be used as a garden studio with gym, garden room, changing room and W.C. in the rear garden of the house. It will be finished predominantly in timber cladding and tiles and rise to a maximum height of 4.0m its eastern side.

There had previously been fears that the actor may have been forced to move from the area due to lack of space as plans to put a third storey on his house were declined by Council planners in 2015. His wife gave birth to their fourth child that year. However in the following year they approved a a two storey rear extension at first floor level and single storey rear extension either side and rear roof extension as well as the enlargement of the existing basement.
