Charges of assault against the former wife of celebrity chef Marco Pierre White have been dropped.

Matilde Conejero, 51, known as Mati, had pleaded not guilty to assaulting Marco Pierre White jnr, 20, and her eldest Luciano, 22, during a row at their home in Chiswick on 20 September last year.

Neither of the two sons of the celebrity chef and his estranged wife turned up to the trial at Uxbridge Magistrates Court last Tuesday (12 July) where they were both witnesses in the case.

The case has now been dismissed and the charges withdrawn.

The court was told on Tuesday that police officers who went to Marco's home in Chiswick were told by friends he had been to a party the previous night and was in Hampshire and too ill to attend. The other son Luciano who did not turn up to court, was unable to be contacted by phone as his mobile was switched off.

The judge Deborah Wright told the court that Luciano was uncontactable and that she had been advised that Marco was too hungover after a party to attend.

She denied an application to adjourn the case and said it already had a "troubled" history of proceedings. As a result the case collapsed and the charges were dropped.
