Two well known Chiswick residents will be joining legends on ice Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean for ITV’s new series of Dancing On Ice.

Armed only with their ice skates and some seriously glittery costumes, Sarah Greene and Tim Vincent will be paired with professional ice skaters and will take to the ice live each week to perform specially choreographed routines.

tim vincent chiswick35 year old former Blue Peter presenter Tim has been tipped as the one to watch however, with his confidence on the ice growing; his fear is focussed on the outfits he’ll be wearing.

"Dancing On Ice can become a celebration of campness with all the costumes which I’m not so keen on," he says. "Apparently all the blokes say that absolutely every year, and they start off with a couple of sequins and end up looking like Dame Edna Everage. I’m waiting with interest to see if that happens."

Fellow Chiswickian Sarah Greene has no such fears “I am so looking forward to the costumes.” She says, “As a little girl I always wanted to wear these sorts of sparkly dresses and I’ve had to wait rather a long time to wear them.”

Sarah also has a very special bond with Torvill and Dean, having been charged with presenting them with their gold Blue Peter badges after their win at the 1984 Olympics.

“It was right at the very beginning of my television career and I was lucky enough to be the person that had to go to Heathrow airport and meet them. I gave them each their gold Blue Peter badge. When I saw Jane and Chris for the first time after all those years they were sweet enough to pretend that they remembered it.”

Sarah and Tim will be joined by ten other celebrities including Greg Rusedski, Michael Underwood, Gareth Gates as well as Linda Lusardi, Samantha Mumba and Aggie MacKenzie.

Tune in this Sunday January 13th on ITV1 for the first show to see how they get on.
