Marathon man Matthew Davison recently crossed the Atlantic to compete in the New York marathon. His intention was to raise money for the charity Help A London Child.

The trip was organised by Capital FM and he ran with his University friend Tim Morgan. Together they have raised over £4000.

Matthew who lives in Sutton Court told us, " It was an amazing day with massive crowds turning out along the route, which took us through each of the five Boroughs of New York. It did also leave my feet and legs somewhat sore!"

He organised a number of fundraising events, with the highlight being a talent contest held at the Parish Hall, St Michaels and All Angels church.

He completed the marathon in the highly creditable time of 4 hours 21 minutes.
