Recent donations made to branches of Oxfam show a rather extraordinary north / south divide.

Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow generously donated a pair of loafers to Oxfam's Chiswick boutique whilst workers at their shop in Edinburgh were bemused when they were presented with a slice of cheddar cheese with an image of the Greek god Zeus formed in mould.

However, according the Edinburgh Post, they discovered it was not something to turn up their noses at when they managed to sell it on eBay for £26!

Other unusual items donated to Oxfam included a coffin used as a prop in the TV soap Emmerdale which raised £25 for the charity.

It is not known how much Gwyneth’s shoes went for though and which charitable soul in W4 is now wearing them.
