Sir Derek Myers is to be the new Chair of the Chiswick House and Gardens Trust (CHGT) succeeding Andrew Fane who is retiring after eight years.

Sir Derek has had a distinguished record in public service, including three years as Chief Executive at London Borough of Hounslow, and thirteen years in that role at Kensington and Chelsea.. He has had a further range of public sector roles in Public Health England and as chair of government-appointed commissions. Up until 2017 he led the government intervention team running Rotherham council in the wake of the child abuse scandal.

He was knighted in the Queens Honours list in 2014

Andrew Fane said, “I am delighted that Sir Derek has agreed to take up the chairmanship of CHGT at such an important time in the Trust’s development. Management of the House and Garden are now united under the Trust and whilst real challenges remain the potential for this very special and important site in Chiswick is very great. Sir Derek will be the ideal person to lead the Trust forward in continuing improvements to the estate and making it ever more popular with and relevant to its local and wider communities. It is a well-loved resource to all who know and use it.”

Sir Derek said, “I am pleased to be joining the Trust to work with all those who can help Chiswick House, as it approaches its 300th anniversary, to be recognised as the most beautiful, and most useful, Grade 1 listed House and Gardens in London.”

This site remains committed to providing local community news and public interest journalism.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.

We’ve always done that and won’t be changing, in fact we’d like to do more.

However, the readership that these stories generates is often below that needed to cover the cost of producing them. Our financial resources are limited and the local media environment is intensely competitive so there is a constraint on what we can do.

If neither of these amounts is suitable for you then contact info@neighbournet.com and we can set up an alternative. All payments are made through a secure web site.

One-off donations are also appreciated. Choose The Amount You Wish To Contribute.

If you do support us in this way we’d be interested to hear what kind of articles you would like to see more of on the site – send your suggestions to the editor.
