Council
consults on Chiswick Road proposals
A
new 'Green Areas' scheme is being considered for Chiswick Road and Acton
Lane to tackle the problem of rat-running in the area.
Hounslow Council is currently consulting on five options, with the primary
aim of reducing or eliminating through-traffic on Chiswick Road - which
currently has up to 400 vehicles per hour - as well as a range of measures
to improve the local environment.
Other elements of the proposed scheme include upgrading crossing facilities
at both ends of Chiswick Road and improving pedestrian and cycle conditions
throughout the area, particularly between Chiswick High Road and Chiswick
Park underground station.
Consultation closes on 21 February, and a report on the scheme will
be discussed at the Council's Chiswick Area Committee (Planning) on
Wednesday 26 February. Work is expected to begin in early March, with
completion in approximately three months.
