Police are investigating a homophobic hate crime that allegedly took place in Chiswick this month.

A house on Wavendon Avenue towards the junction with Sutton Court Road was displaying a rainbow flag along side the Union flag when at 4.56am on 12 July the occupant says he received an obscene homophobic note through the letterbox. The house was protected by CCTV and a video was recorded of the man who allegedly posted the note. This has been handed on to the police.

The victim has asked for anyone in the Wavendon Avenue / Sutton Court Road / Burlington Gardens area to check their CCTV for any images from this time.

A spokesperson for the police said, "On Friday 12 July at 12pm, Police were made aware of a report made of a homophobic incident in Wavendon Avenue, Chiswick, where offensive material was left.

"Detectives from the West Area Basic Command Unit are dealing.

"Enquiries continue."
