A 39-year-old man from Chiswick has been charged with attempted murder after two people were injured in Guildford.

Darren Brian Blake of Harvard Road was arrested by armed police on Tuesday (6 August) after a report was received at 4.30pm that a woman had been assaulted at Slyfield Green.

The woman was taken to hospital for treatment to an injury to her upper torso. At the time of writing she is yet to be discharged. A man also suffered minor injuries.

A police helicopter was called in to assist a search of the area for the suspect, who was later detained outside the Rowbarge pub, near the River Wey.

Police say that Mr Blake and the injured woman are known to each other.

Mr Blake has appeared at Staines Magistrates Court where the case was sent for trial at Guildford Crown Court.

He has been remanded in custody to appear on 5 September.
