The spate of muggings against school children may have restarted with the latest incident reported against a number of Chiswick School students.

On Tuesday afternoon (September 17th), several sixth form students were mugged on Burlington Lane.

The OWL neighbourhood watch messaging service reported that a group of 4-5 men threatened the students who were made to hand over belongings.

The police were called and immediately attended the school to take statements from the students.

The school asked for further assistance from the police who patrolled the area and will continue to do so.

The school has put measures in place to improve student safety. More staff were on duty at the end of the day and they will hold information sessions to remind them how to keep safe when travelling to and from school.

Chiswick School staff will be patrolling the area outside of school and will be liaising with the police about this incident.

In the meantime students are reminded not to display their phones or ipods while walking in the streets. Another piece of advice is to only carry to school one credit card which has just enough money for emergencies.

Latest figures have shown a downward trend of crime in the three Chiswick wards.

It is understood that over 100 new officers have been earmarked for the triborough policing area (Hounslow, Hillingdon, Ealing) and they are to be used to target hotspots as needed.

Councillor Ranjit Gill told chiswickw4.com that he has written to senior officers at Hounslow Station calling on them to attend a meeting on crime and policing in the area.

This was promised at the last public meeting earlier this year, but changes in police personnel mean that the triborough deputy commander Gary Taylor, who attended the last two meetings, has moved.

Cllr Gill said; "Parents are emailing me and reporting to me that their children are being robbed. It is time to have this long promised meeting again. "

The latest figures obtained by chiswickw4.com show that all three local wards had improved in the last three months, with Homefields showing a 40.5% drop in the last month of all Notifiable Offences (TNO) -this covers everything from Burglaries to ASBs.

Chiswick Homefields
Last 3 months 297 notified offences- a drop of 5.4%
Last month 66 (-40.5%)

Chiswick Riverside
Last 3 months 194 (-3%)
Last month 59 (-6.5%)

Turnham Green
