A drug-dealing gang who operated from a house on a residential street just off Chiswick High Road have been jailed for a total of ten years.

Their presence on Ennismore Avenue was widely known by residents and local businesses, the staff of which were often too afraid to leave their premises for much of the day for fear of encountering a drug dealer. After the sentencing, local residents were praised by the police for persevering with their complaints which they say helped bring the gang to justice.

Three of the gang have been jailed for drugs-related offences in Chiswick. Gareth Farmer, aged 29 of Ennismore Avenue, Sammy-Jo Johnson, aged 31 of Ennismore Avenue and Abdi Mohammed, 25 of Norman Crescent, Hounslow were sentenced at Isleworth Crown Court. Farmer received 3 years imprisonment, Johnson, 2 years and 4 months and Mohamed, 4 years and 9 months.

The court heard that on Monday, 8 April earlier this year officers from Operation Wolverine entered a property in Chiswick in search of a wanted offender. They immediately encountered a hostile reception from those within the property. A large quantity of class A and class B controlled drugs, weapons including a machete and cash was found. The investigation was subsequently taken on by DC Lucy Baldwin from the West Area gangs unit.

The Class A drugs found in the property were analysed and shown to have a combined street value of £1,880 and over £3,000 in cash was found in the address along with a large quantity of cannabis. Due to the overwhelming evidence obtained by DC Baldwin all three defendants pled guilty to all offences.

Inspector Dan Thompson, Operation Wolverine said, “Once again this shows our utter determination to arrest & convict drug dealers who are causing such damage to our communities, Operation Wolverine & the Gangs Unit have achieved a great outcome which should reassure our residents that we are actively targeting those who cause the most harm”

DC Baldwin – West Area Gangs Unit said, “The sentences of these individuals reflects the serious nature of the crime and the impact drug dealing has on the wider community.

"I’d like to thank the local residents for persevering with their complaints both directly to the Police and to Crimestoppers anonymously, this enabled us to focus our attention on this address and bring these offenders to justice”
