The 35-year-old man, who was the subject of a 'hard-stop' on Chiswick High Road and detained by armed police after a sustained high-speed chase, has been found guilty of murder and attempted murder.
Thomas Schreiber stabbed 83-year-old Sir Richard Sutton to death and left his own mother Anne paralysed. The court was told that his resentment towards Sir Richard grew during the time he was forced to live with him and his mother during lockdown. The attack took place on the eighth anniversary of his own father's death from drink and depression. His mother gave video testimony form hospital in which she said her son had found it difficult to come to terms with the death of his father and her relationship with Sir Richard.
He will be sentenced next week but the judge at Winchester Crown Court has indicated that a life sentence will be given with only the minimum term to be decided.
The stabbings which were described in court as a 'ferocious and sustained attack on both victims' took place on 7 April after which Schreiber drove a Range Rover across the country before a police car deliberately crashed into him on the High Road near the junction with Marlborough Road.

As many as 16 police vehicles were involved in the chase with officers from Wiltshire Police, Hampshire Constabulary, Thames Valley Police, Surrey Police and the Metropolitan Police all assisting as the vehicle progressed along the A303, M3 and A4.
