A 31-year-old man has been charged in connection with an assault that took place in a Chiswick pub earlier this year.

John Paul McDonagh of Fisher Close in Greenford was arrested on Tuesday (6 September) along with 19-year-old Shamus Mongan on suspicion of murder. Both men had been the subject of a manhunt following an attack on a 40-year-old member of staff at the Packhorse & Talbot pub on Saturday 19 February.

Police were called to the Chiswick High Road pub at 11.20pm and found the victim with slash wounds to the head, neck, arm and hand. His injuries required reconstructive surgery and a prolonged period of rehabilitation. Another man was also assaulted Another man was left with a broken nose, swelling and bruising

McDonagh has now been charged with two counts of wounding with intent and affray. He was remanded in custody to appear at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 9 September. Mongan has been released with no further action to be taken against him.
