Police are appealing for information about two similar crimes which occured recently in the Chiswick area. Although they are not necessarily being linked, police are advising residents, particularly the elderly, to talk to local crime prevention officers about security.

In one cas a man interrupted an intruder in his home on Wednesday 16th November at 8.25pm at Corney Road, W4. The victim, a 61 year old man, heard his front door bell ring. He then heard a loud crashing noise, looked down the stairs and saw his front door wide open and a suspect in his hall. The suspect then ran out of the house in an unknown direction.

The suspect was described as a white male, about 20 years with short brown hair, slim build and wearing beige or light coloured clothes. Nothing stolen and the victim was not injured.

The previous day, Tuesday 15th November at 3.45am at South Side, Chiswick, W6 a 71 year old man was disturbed and found a suspect in his kitchen. The suspect ran out of the house through the front door and ran off towards Goldhawk Road . Entry had apparently been gained by the suspect reaching through the letter box and pulling down the door handle.

Property take included two mobile phones and an Omega gold watch valued at about £1250. The victim was not hurt. The suspect was described as a light skinned black male, about 20 years, 5’8”, stocky build wearing a black jumper and dark trousers.
