A police constable was subjected to a violent assault on Monday 14th May as he tried to engage a suspect in conversation.

The incident happened at 14.30 close to the footpath leading to Staveley Gardens after PCSO Steve Burton spotted the suspect walking down from Chiswick BR Station pushing his black bike.

PCSO Burton recognised the male and approached him to speak. As he did so, the suspect slashed the constable across the left cheek and right forearm with a metal object believed to have been keys.

The suspect then made off on his bike towards Staveley Gardens and PCSO Burton followed on foot.

He is described as a slim built 27 year old black male with dreadlocks who was wearing a green parka jacket with black fur hood, black woollen hat with a grey band, dark trousers and white trainers.
