Woman Mugged Whilst Talking On Mobile

Victim dragged along pavement screaming before hooded suspect escaped

A 59 year old local woman was mugged as she spoke on her mobile phone. The incident happened on Thursday 1st November at 6.00pm as the victim walked along Airedale Avenue. She was on her mobile phone informing her brother that she was on her way when she felt a hand on her bag.

The victim turned immediately and kept a firm grip on her bag with both hands but fell to the ground whilst doing so. She kept hold of her bag and screamed for help as the suspect dragged her along the pavement for about five metres.

The suspect managed to get away with her bag. The victim ran after the suspect towards the High Road and into Cleveland Avenue but lost him. The victim suffered grazing to her right wrist.

She described the suspect as a 6’0” black male, 23 years old wearing a dark hooded jacket with dark trousers.
