Residents of Duke Road had a rude awakening around 11.30pm on Wednesday 17th June when a driver came 'hurtling' down past the junction with Quick Road in his Mercedes, lost control and collided with three parked cars.

An eyewitness told ChiswickW4.com, “Rather than stop, he carried on at speed, his car spraying oil, around the corner into Fraser Street where he collided with an oncoming Honda and was finally stopped by crashing into a parked car.”

The impact pushed the parked car a BMW 3 Series into the kerb and lifted it up off its offside wheels to rest on the front of the Mercedes.

“The driver sat dazed at the wheel of his car until police arrived, and although an ambulance was called the police determined that he was uninjured but just extremely drunk.”

Fortunately none of the three occupants of the Honda were injured.

The driver of the Mercedes was removed through the back door of his car by the emergency services as the driver's door being jammed shut by the impact. He was arrested and taken away in a police van.

The damaged cars that were obstructing the road were removed by recovery trucks. “The owner of the Honda was also the owner of one of the damaged parked cars, so had both his cars bent in one drunk's rampage.”

A Police spokesman told ChiswickW4.com, "Following an incident on Duke Road on Wednesday 17th June, a local man has been charged with driving a motor vehicle on a road whilst being unfit to do so through drink."

Chiswick High Road resident Sylwester Plichta aged 27 was released on bail to attend Feltham Magistrates Court on 25th June 2009.
