As if the A board advertising The Avenue as a robbery hotspot wasn't enough of a worry, a knife bin has now taken up semi-permanent residence.

Nestled amongst foliage at the junction of The Avenue and Bath Road, the knife bin is just yards away from St Michael and All Angels Church and Bedford Park Preparatory School.

"Surely there is a more appropriate place for this bin?" remarked one resident who admitted he had to look twice at what he initially believed was a recycling project for the Parish.

Another resident Tweeted at his 'horror' of discovering the knife bin.

The slogan 'Get A Life - Bin That Knife' emblazoned across this and other knife bins in the capital originated from Chiswick when Joe Maher won a major competition with his creative writing and design skills. In a contest held back in 2005 youths were asked to come up with a poster to be placed on 'surrender bins' where knives can be brought without fear of reprisals.
