24-year-old Jasmin Salmon was quoted in the Daily Mirror as claiming that her mother, who she stood by during her 14 years in jail, is now taking court action against her which could result in her being homeless. She was ten years old when her mother was jailed for taking a double-barrelled shotgun into the salon and killing Lorna Stewart. She told reporters that she visited her mother every month while she was in prison even though it involved a travelling hundreds of miles and spoke to her five times a week. She was waiting at the prison gates when her mother was freed.

The dispute involves a flat in Liverpool which was originally purchased for £50,000 and has now been valued at £88,000. Jasmin Salmon claims that her mother lent her £65,000 to buy and renovate the property. Now Rena Salmon has served legal papers asking the courts to declare that the property belongs to her. Jasmin claims her mother has locked her out of the flat and dumped her clothes at her boyfriend’s home. She has asked her mother’s parole officer to ensure that she stays away from her.

There was never any formal agreement between the two women but the daughter claims it was always understood that the money was given to her as a loan. Rena Salmon claims the flat was held for her in trust and that her daughter was paying rent not interest on a loan.

Her mother also claims that she made £11,000 of unauthorised withdrawals from her debit. Jasmin Salmon says much of the money went to pay solicitors bills and that her mother told her she could use the card for personal expenses during a period when she was out of work.
