A local resident is recovering from the shock of being confronted by two men, one wielding a knife, as she was putting out her rubbish early last Sunday morning.

The men approached the resident in Devonhurst Place, a gated development near Chiswick Town Hall, at around 8.30 am. She was in the process of putting some rubbish out in the recycling boxes at the time, and turned around to find the men facing her.

According to an account by a local resident, one of the men produced a knife.

She had no cash or valuables with her at the time and they demanded her jewellery, which consisted of a wedding and an engagement ring. After taking the valuables, they ran off.

The police were alerted and are searching for the two suspects.

A local resident said that the incident took place before the porters come on duty on Sunday morning. "Nobody knows how these individuals gained access. We normally feel safe inside as it is a gated development but I would say that residents are very wary now, it was so unexpected and sudden."

The development has an underground parking facility and there have not been any recent reports of thefts, apart from some bikes reported stolen a year ago.

The resident said " It's very shocking that this could happen early on a Sunday morning. I would urge people to be vigilant at all times."

The woman was shocked but unhurt by the incident.
