A man from Chiswick has been found guilty of burgling an 87-year-old woman's Camden home and pushing an 84-year-old woman in Chiswick outside her home before stealing her handbag.

37-year-old Andrew Alexander of Sutton Lane South, Chiswick was found guilty of burglary and robbery at Kingston Crown Court on Friday, 15 September.

At approximately 12:25pm on Monday, 2 January, Alexander pushed over an 84-year-old woman as she left her home address on Sutton Court Road, W4 and stole her handbag.

Previously, at approximately 8pm on 22 November 2016, Alexander had followed 87-year-old Stella Magarshack into her home on Albert Street, Camden and stole her handbag. She was returning with her shopping when Alexander followed her into the communal area in her block of flats. She told a relative who lives with her what had happen but had collapsed by the time the police arrived at the scene and was taken to hospital having suffered what was reported to be a stroke.

He was charged on Friday, 6 January with two counts of robbery and one count of fraud following a joint investigation by Hounslow CID and the Central North Command Unit.

Detective Constable Brett Jones, said: "I would like to thank all of those who have assisted in this investigation. This result will bring justice to the victims and their families, and the public in general, knowing that Alexander, a man that preys on the most vulnerable members of our community has been apprehended."

Alexander will be sentenced on Friday, 6 October at the same court.
