Crossroads Team to take Flora Challenge

Local charity which supports carers in fund raising run

On 14th September in Hyde Park, a team from Hounslow Crossroads will be running in the 5 km Flora Light Challenge for Women alongside an impressive list of celebrities that include television personalities Nell McAndrew, Gabby Roslin, Penny Mallory and a host of TV Soap Stars who are also taking part in the event.

Hounslow Crossroads is a local charity that supports Carers in the Chiswick area by providing respite at home. It is part of a national charity, which was set up following a storyline in the soap opera ‘Crossroads’. They provide more than 16,500 care hours per year supporting Carers in Hounslow. This enables people who look after a relative or friend of any age or disability to ‘Take a Break’.

There are 6.8 million Carers in the UK, which means that one in six people are Carers, and around 3 in 5 people will be a Carer at some point in their lives.

Although Crossroads nationally has been in existence for over 25 years and one of the largest providers of respite at home, providing over 4 million care hours per year to 33,000 Carers, it is not until people’s caring role faces a crisis that these Carers find out what Crossroads can provide.

Hounslow Crossroads hopes that by taking part in the Flora Challenge, Carers in Hounslow will be more aware that they are not alone and that support is available.

The team aim to raise up to £3,000 which will help Hounslow Crossroads support families living with the experience of cancer.

If you would like to sponsor the Crossroads Team, please send donations to Hounslow Crossroads Care Scheme, Alexandra House, 241 High Street, Brentford, TW8 0NE. If you are a tax payer they are able to claim an extra 28p for every £1 you donate – all we need is you full address and postcode.
