A woman and two children have been rescued from a three-storey house in Chiswick after a blaze started on the roof.

Builders were working at the property in Sutton Lane North when the material they were using caught light.

A passerby alerted the fire brigade after seeing smoke at about 5.55pm on Wednesday (12th May).

Three fire engines arrived at the scene and firefighters rescued the woman and two children from the building.

An ambulance was called to the scene just after 6pm.

London Ambulance treated a 37-year-old woman who was taken to hospital with smoke inhalation.

Sutton Lane North was closed between Heathfield Terrace and Walpole Gardens for several hours.

The whole roof of the property was damaged in the blaze - an investigation is underway.
